Install
Host on your computer
Run Future Forge on your machine under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 for non-commercial use — the practice and the free inventing-path showcase. No deep-library subscription required.
- Free for non-commercial use (self-host, host-present meetings, free online servers)
- Education is commercial — schools, universities, bootcamps, and training orgs need a paid license
- Needs a SuperGrok subscription (or xAI API key) for the full co-inventor
- Source on GitHub
- Start with the tutorial — open Workshop when you’re ready
- Inventing paths on the home screen — free AI showcase live; deep library planned
Friends
Invent with friends over the Internet
Host a friends room from your laptop. Only you need Tailscale Funnel; friends open a normal HTTPS link — no install on their side.
- You run Future Forge +
tailscale funnel - Friends need only a browser and the room code
- Same Wi‑Fi / LAN still works without Funnel
FAQ
Short answers
Who is it for?
Anyone who wants inventing practice with emerging tech — high-school seniors and up: students, junior professionals, educators, and parents. A practice ground for the missing subject: exponential progress of emerging technologies. No coding bootcamp required. Not free-for-all classrooms: schools, universities, bootcamps, and training orgs need an Education license (Education is commercial use).
What are inventing paths / modules?
Multi-week themed quest sequences on the self-host home screen. Inventing is the work each week — not a lecture funnel. A free AI showcase path is in the product today. A deeper paid library is planned (target $49 CAD/mo) — no live subscribe button until billing exists.
Do I need SuperGrok?
Yes for the full AI co-inventor on personal self-host today (SuperGrok or an xAI API key). Future Forge still runs with a weaker local fallback without keys.
Should I start with the tutorial?
Yes. The tutorial is a quieter first run of Invent · Challenge · Field. Open Workshop when you want the full cockpit. Prefer to watch first? What Workshop adds (with videos) →
Is there multiplayer or friends mode?
Yes. Future Forge supports friends rooms for a LAN party, hotseat on a single device, or remote friends over the Internet. Each person still invents with an AI co-inventor advising — you lead your own run.
Is it free? Where is the source?
Future Forge is free for non-commercial use under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 (attribution + share-alike). You may self-host, host a live meeting where you participate, and run an online server when you are not charging and have no commercial intent. Education is commercial use — schools, universities, bootcamps, and training orgs need a paid license; so do companies and paid hosting. Source is on GitHub — LICENSE.md and COMMERCIAL.md. A deep module library subscription is planned later; it is not required for non-commercial inventing practice today.
