What is live in 2026

In 2026, most medicines made with living cells are still produced in specialized facilities and distributed through established supply chains. Those facilities have validated equipment, trained staff, documented processes, and quality testing. They exist because a biological product can be affected by small changes in materials, handling, or conditions.

Some care systems are moving selected capabilities closer to patients. Examples include hospital-based preparation for certain cell therapies, regional manufacturing networks, and controlled systems designed for specific products. These are not general-purpose mini factories, and they are not a standard option for every small clinic.

For Crossing Clinic 4, an honest near-term proposal might be a regional licensed partner, an agreed emergency delivery route, and stock monitoring for one high-priority medicine.

That proposal addresses the real failure: a patient needs an approved medicine on time. It does not require pretending that the clinic can replace a regulated manufacturer.
