Invent the step
Create a small, testable proposal for one repair step at Quay Mill. The goal is not to digitize the whole mill. It is to help a technician carry out one defined task with accurate information and a safe fallback.
Your proposal should answer five questions:
- Task: What exact repair or inspection step is difficult, rare, or easy to get wrong?
- Display: Will the worker use a paper procedure, tablet, phone, wearable display, or a combination? Explain why that choice fits the task.
- Content: Who owns and verifies the instructions, diagrams, and any remote annotation before they are used?
- Fallback: What happens if the device, network, or remote expert is unavailable?
- Safety boundary: When must the worker stop and call for in-person support?
Hands-free is not automatically better. If a tablet on a stand and a voice call keep the work clearer and safer than a headset, use the tablet.

Start with one procedure, observe the repair in real conditions, and revise the plan from what the workers and safety lead find. The result should make the next step easier to check, not harder to question.
