Honest limits

An overlay can be wrong, late, or hard to see. Glare, poor lighting, battery life, network loss, noise, gloves, eye protection, and restricted areas can make a device unsuitable for a task. A worker may also need attention on a moving part, a valve, or another person rather than on a display.

For that reason, a live AR system needs clear boundaries. The procedure must have an accountable source, the worker must be able to pause and question an instruction, and the task must have a safe way to continue or stop when the link fails.

Privacy and security matter too. A live camera feed can reveal equipment, workplaces, or people. The mill needs rules for access, recording, retention, and the use of any remote expert service.

A wrong arrow on a valve; a dropped network

Do not treat an AR label as proof that a step is correct. Test one procedure, define stop conditions, and keep the approved procedure available without the device.
