Specialists already ship

In 2024 factories around the world installed about 542,000 new industrial robots, and more than four and a half million were already at work. Almost all of them are arms and rolling bases, not walkers. A 2026 hardware survey put full walking person-shapes in the hundreds of units shipped.

Those two numbers come from different counts, so do not add them up. They carry the same moral: the body that already does the work is the one in Malik’s crate.

Arms weld, tend machines, and pick parts inside a fixed cone of reach. Some are built for fast, light picks in a small space. Rolling bases carry hundreds of kilograms across a flat floor. None of that needs a face.

Once you see the volume, waiting for a walking demo looks like waiting for the rare machine while the common one sits in straps.

The tempting mistake is to wait for the walking demo because that is what the rumor named.
