Not the default body

A walking machine pays for balance every second. Every step is a small fall caught in time, and that costs power, sensors, and attention. A crushed carton on flat concrete does not need that payment. A rolling base moves hundreds of kilograms without ever thinking about balance.

The numbers tell the same story. Factory arms ship by the hundreds of thousands of units a year. In a 2026 hardware survey, full walking person-shapes shipped in the hundreds. Watch the brochures, too: walking designs keep growing wheels. That is the specialist winning inside the marketing.

So when does the person-shape keep its reason? When the leftover jobs really need legs: stairs, doors, mixed shelves nobody will rebuild. If those jobs vanish, the reason vanishes with them. If specialists cannot reach the mezzanine, the reason stays.

The tempting mistake is to make a billion-unit forecast the invent. Tomas needs a stair plan, not a keynote.
