Why a human shape

Doors, stair treads, mezzanine rails, and tool handles were sized for human bodies. Nobody is going to rebuild Rookery Hub. A walking, two-armed machine is a bet that it does not have to be rebuilt: the machine fits the building instead of the building fitting the machine.

That is the honest reason for a human shape. Looking like a coworker is not a reason. Being on camera is not a reason.

Rookery’s mezzanine stairs are that bet. Stock goes up them at two in the morning on someone’s back because nothing with wheels can follow. The flat aisle of neat boxes is not that bet. A rolling base handles it already.

Once you can see the building as the reason, the camera aisle looks like the wrong place to spend a walking machine’s hours.

The tempting mistake is to put the walking machine on camera work because the stairs felt too hard. Hard is the point of this body.

That is what lets you see when the same machine is the wrong default.
